THE QUICK ANSWER
What to settle first.
Compare the unit, quantity, duration assumption, included task and change rule for every charge. Keep extraction, equipment placement, monitoring, pickup and repair work separate. If a duration or quantity is unknown, record the decision that will establish it rather than multiplying an estimate into a supposed final price.
AT A GLANCE
Three points to clarify.
Rate unit
Identify whether the line is fixed, hourly, daily, per item, per area or an allowance and what event starts and stops the charge.
Included event
Separate delivery, setup, monitoring, movement, cleaning and pickup instead of assuming one equipment line includes every visit.
Change rule
Record who may approve added quantities or time, what evidence supports the change and how it will appear in the written total.
01 / WORK THROUGH THE DECISION
Normalize the work before comparing numbers
Start with scope, not totals. One proposal may combine extraction and setup while another separates labor, equipment and disposal. Rewrite neither document; create a comparison row that points back to each exact line and notes which task, room or material it covers.
A missing line does not prove a task is free or unnecessary. Ask whether it is included elsewhere, excluded or not yet determined. Keep the answer with the proposal so the comparison does not depend on memory.
02 / WORK THROUGH THE DECISION
Define quantity and time assumptions
For equipment, identify the device type as written, count, rate unit, assumed start, assumed end and any minimum. For labor or extraction, identify the crew or task unit and what completion means. Avoid inventing quantities when the assessment has not established them.
A proposed number of days is a planning assumption unless the agreement says otherwise. Ask what monitoring finding supports continuation, movement or removal and how billing responds to that decision.

Separate events that can occur on different dates
Delivery, setup, monitoring, adjustment and pickup can be separate events. Ask which visits are included in the equipment rate and which have their own charge. Record who contacts you, what access is needed and what happens when a scheduled visit cannot occur.
Do not merge restoration equipment with plumbing, electrical, reconstruction or contents-storage charges. If another business provides a task, identify the separate agreement and the handoff condition.
04 / WORK THROUGH THE DECISION
Compare authorization and documentation
For every variable line, ask who may authorize a change and what record you receive. Useful evidence may include a dated scope revision, equipment event record, material-specific monitoring note or pickup acknowledgment. The document should distinguish a proposed event from a completed one.
Ask the responding provider to confirm availability, assessment charges and the written scope at your address. This worksheet does not publish Atlanta prices or predict a final charge; actual price depends on the provider's written proposal and property-specific work.
YOUR DECISION WORKSHEET
Charge-comparison normalization
| Line type | Fields to compare | Question before approval |
|---|---|---|
| Extraction | Area or task, labor unit, included handling | What visible and concealed scope is included or excluded? |
| Equipment | Device, count, rate unit, start and stop event | What evidence changes duration or quantity? |
| Monitoring | Visit count, included readings, adjustment and report | Is each visit included, fixed or separately billed? |
| Change | Trigger, approver, price method and record | Can work or billing change without written authorization? |

Build a short outline from what you know. This does not submit a request or book service.
Your call notes
Questions to ask: Copy each proposal line without changing its wording. Identify the task, room or material tied to the charge. Record the rate unit and quantity or duration assumption. Please confirm whether you handle the water removal and drying needs I describe and serve my address, plus any assessment fees and exclusions.
Add your written quote amounts
Enter each charge once, in dollars, using amounts from your actual written proposal. Enter 0 only when you have confirmed there is no additional charge for that item. Leave unknown amounts blank. This tool supplies no prices or savings estimate.
Arithmetic only. Blank fields remain unknown; the result does not verify scope, taxes or contract terms. Nothing is submitted or saved.Common questions
Can I estimate the final bill from a daily equipment rate?
Not reliably without the count, billing start and stop rules, monitoring decisions and other scope lines. Ask for those assumptions in writing.
Does the lowest equipment rate mean the lowest total?
No. Compare equivalent scope, quantities, included visits, exclusions and change terms before comparing totals.
Is reconstruction included after drying?
Only if the written proposal says so. Identify removal, disposal, finish repair and rebuilding as separate responsibilities and price lines where applicable.
